Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum of two years of restaurant, fine dining, or banquet serving experience.
Previous experience in both restaurant and banquet service is preferred.
Previous experience in a four-star/four-diamond country club, resort, hotel, or fine dining environment preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Must obtain and maintain a valid Riverside County Food Handler Card.
Must obtain and maintain required alcohol-service training/certification.
Familiarity with a restaurant or Food & Beverage POS system required.
Ability to read, understand, and follow Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
Ability to communicate effectively in English with members, guests, management, and coworkers.
Strong verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to exceptional service.
Ability to accurately take orders, enter information into a POS system, handle checks, and process payments.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities.
Ability to adapt to changing service environments and operational needs.
Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
Dependable attendance and punctuality are required.

Work Environment

Heritage Palms is a 55+ community with more than 1,000 homes and a strong commitment to providing exceptional, personalized service to its members and guests.
The Fine Dining & Banquet Server is a dual-role position responsible for providing professional food and beverage service in both the restaurant and banquet operations. Under the direction of the Dining Room Supervisor, Banquet Captain, and F&B Management, the Server is expected to transition between restaurant and banquet responsibilities based on business needs, scheduled events, and operational requirements.
In the fine dining/restaurant operation , the Server is responsible for the complete guest experience, including greeting guests, presenting menus, explaining menu items and specials, taking food and beverage orders, delivering and clearing courses, maintaining tables, processing checks and payments, and following up to ensure guest satisfaction.
In the banquet operation , the Server assists with event setup, table and buffet preparation, plated and buffet food service, beverage service, tray service, table clearing and resetting, banquet side work, event breakdown, and other responsibilities outlined in the Banquet Event Order (BEO).
The successful candidate must be comfortable working in both individualized fine dining service and fast-paced banquet
environments while maintaining a friendly, courteous, professional, and helpful attitude.
Requirements
- Fine Dining / Restaurant Service
- Provide complete table service from guest arrival through departure.
- Greet and acknowledge members and guests promptly, warmly, and professionally.
- Present menus and explain food and beverage offerings, specials, ingredients, and preparation methods.
- Answer guest questions and provide appropriate menu and beverage recommendations.
- Accurately take food and beverage orders and enter orders into the POS system.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen and bar staff to ensure accurate and timely service.
- Deliver food and beverages promptly and professionally using established service and tray-service standards.
- Coordinate the timing of courses and monitor the progress of each table.
- Follow up with guests throughout the meal to ensure satisfaction.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests.
- Maintain awareness of food allergies and dietary restrictions and communicate concerns immediately to the appropriate supervisor or kitchen personnel.
- Never make assumptions regarding ingredients or food allergies.
- Clear, clean, and reset tables according to established fine dining standards.
- Replenish beverages, condiments, table items, and other supplies as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked workstation and side station.
- Complete assigned opening, closing, and restaurant side work.
- Accurately handle checks, signatures, cash, credit card transactions, and other approved forms of payment.
- Follow established procedures for check handling and payment processing.
- Banquet Service
- Read, interpret, and follow Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and event-specific instructions.
- Assist with banquet room setup, including tables, chairs, linens, place settings, buffet stations, beverage stations, and side stations.
- Prepare tables and service areas according to event specifications.
- Provide plated, buffet, reception, and other banquet food and beverage service as assigned.
- Perform tray service and other established banquet service techniques.
- Deliver food and beverages efficiently while maintaining proper presentation and service standards.
- Clear plates, glassware, flatware, and other service items throughout the event.
- Reset tables and service areas as required during and between functions.
- Assist with buffet replenishment and maintaining clean and organized buffet areas as directed.
- Communicate with the Banquet Captain, Supervisor, kitchen, and F&B Manager regarding event timing, special requests, guest concerns, allergies, dietary restrictions, or changes to the BEO.
- Assist with private events, member functions, tournaments, receptions, and other special events.
- Perform all assigned banquet side work and pre-work required for future events.
- Assist with event breakdown and cleanup, including clearing tables and properly cleaning and storing equipment and supplies.
- Report housekeeping, maintenance, equipment, or safety concerns to the appropriate F&B Supervisor or Manager.
- Dual-Role Responsibilities
- Transition between restaurant and banquet service responsibilities based on the daily schedule and operational needs.
- Maintain consistent service standards regardless of the service environment.
- Adapt to differences between individualized fine dining service and high-volume banquet service.
- Work effectively with servers, bartenders, bussers/runners, banquet staff, culinary staff, supervisors, and management.
- Be prepared to assist other areas of Food & Beverage when business volume or staffing needs require.
- Maintain a positive, professional, and team-oriented attitude during both restaurant and banquet operations.

- Provide exceptional, personalized service to all members and guests.
