The Busser/Runner is a dual role position responsible for both restaurant and banquet operations. Supports the Food & Beverage team by maintaining high standards of cleanliness, presentation, setup, and service. This position assists servers, banquet captains, and management with food and beverage delivery, table setup and breakdown, clearing and resetting tables, maintaining side stations, and ensuring that dining and event spaces remain clean, organized, and properly stocked.
The ideal candidate is dependable, energetic, detail-oriented, and able to provide friendly and professional service in a fast-paced fine dining and banquet environment.
Requirements
- Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Read, interpret, and follow Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and instructions provided by the Banquet Captain, Supervisor, or F&B Manager.
- Assist with event setup, including moving and arranging tables and chairs, setting up buffet areas, side stations, beverage stations, and other event areas.
- Prepare and maintain table settings, glassware, flatware, napkins, condiments, beverages, and other service items according to event specifications.
- Deliver food and beverages to members and guests in a timely, efficient, and professional manner.
- Assist servers and banquet staff with food running and beverage service as directed.
- Confirm food and beverage items are delivered to the correct table or guest.
- Communicate promptly with the Banquet Captain, Supervisor, or Manager regarding changes, special requests, guest concerns, allergies, or dietary restrictions.
- Never make assumptions regarding food allergies or dietary restrictions; refer questions to the appropriate kitchen or management personnel.
- Clear plates, glassware, flatware, and other service items promptly and appropriately.
- Reset tables and service areas according to established fine dining and banquet standards.
- Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked side stations throughout each function.
- Assist with replenishing beverages, ice, service supplies, and other items as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness of dining rooms, banquet spaces, service areas, floors, and other assigned areas.
- Handle dishes, glassware, equipment, and service items carefully to prevent damage and ensure safe operation.
- Assist with event breakdown and cleanup, including clearing tables, removing equipment, cleaning floors, and properly storing tables, chairs, supplies, and equipment.
- Complete all assigned side work and pre-work required for future events before leaving the shift.
- Follow all established Food & Beverage, Association, sanitation, safety, and service standards.
- Maintain a professional, courteous, and positive attitude when interacting with members, guests, coworkers, and management.
- Work cooperatively with servers, bartenders, banquet staff, culinary staff, housekeeping, and other departments.
- Communicate effectively with the Banquet Captain, Supervisor, and F&B Manager throughout each function.
- Assist with other dining, banquet, and Food & Beverage responsibilities as directed.
- Perform other related duties and work-related projects as assigned by F&B Management or the Banquet Captain.
- Member & Guest Service Standards
- Provide friendly, courteous, and professional service to all members and guests.
- Maintain awareness of guest needs and respond promptly to requests.
- Treat members, guests, and coworkers with respect and professionalism.
- Maintain a clean, polished, and organized appearance.
- Represent Heritage Palms and the Food & Beverage Department in a positive and professional manner.
- Remain attentive and professional during busy events and high-volume service periods.
- Schedule & Availability
- Seasonal, variable schedule based on business needs and scheduled events.
- Must have a flexible schedule and be available to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be available to work extended shifts and high-volume event periods as needed.
- Hours may vary based on banquet schedules, member events, private functions, and operational requirements.
- Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous restaurant, fine dining, banquet, food-running, or hospitality experience preferred.
- Previous experience in a four-star/four-diamond country club, resort, hotel, or fine dining environment preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must possess or obtain a valid Food Handler Card as required within 30 days of employment.
- Must be TIPS Certified or obtain TIPS certification as required by the company within 30 days of employment.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English with members, guests, management, and coworkers.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Ability to read and follow Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high service standards.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality are required.
