Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Social Work, or related field
- 2 years of experience in helping professions, preferably in an educational institution
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Solid understanding of UAE society culture
- Bilingual in Arabic and English

Job Purpose Summary
- The Counseling Outreach Officer reports to the Director of the Student Counseling Center (SCC) and works closely with the administrative staff and Counselors of SCC at the respective campus.
- The incumbent liaises with key offices and contacts within the university community to plan and coordinate outreach activities related to student well being.
- The Counseling Outreach Officer will be in charge of all Health Accommodation for students who need accommodations/accessibility arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
- Works in close coordination with staff and Counselors to identify gaps in awareness of Center services.
- Establishes and maintains positive relationships with university offices to facilitate support for the Center.
- Coordinates representation of the Center at University events such as New Student Orientation.
- Plans and executes major university events like World Health Day, World Mental Health Day.
- Liaises with faculty and student community to increase awareness and use of Center services.
- Designs, organizes, and implements outreach activities to promote the Center.
- Consults with staff to prioritize outreach programs to overcome stigma associated with mental health.
- Conducts meetings and presentations with targeted student populations.
- Develops psycho educational programs and materials for website and social media.
- Plans and supports regular outreach programs like Depression awareness week.
- Develops and maintains a database on outreach efforts.
- Maintains a budget and financial report on outreach expenditure.
Health Accommodations
- Responsible for all Health Accommodation cases on campus.
- Works with Health Clinic doctors to decide appropriate accommodations.
- Manages students' physical health issues and accommodations.
- Liaises with Professors and Colleges to explain required accommodations.
Degree of Independence/Complexity of Environment
- Highly ambiguous, constantly changing environment requiring professional relationships with diverse network.
- Must be able to deal with simultaneously occurring crises.
- Position requires good understanding of SCC functions and counseling profession.
- Expected to use judgment, resourcefulness, creativity, and initiative.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology/Counseling Psychology and Human Services/Social Work or related fields.
- 2 years' experience in related helping professions, preferably in an educational institution.
Other Essential Requirements
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
- Solid understanding of the culture of the UAE Society.
- Bilingual in Arabic and English.
