A Material and Corrosion Engineerspecializes in selecting materials, managing corrosion, and ensuring the structural integrity of assets in industries like oil and gas, chemical processing, and engineering.
They define corrosion mitigation strategies (coatings, inhibitors), conduct failure analyses, develop material specifications, and ensure compliance with industry standards (NACE, ASTM, API).
Material Selection Specifications
Develop material selection reports, define corrosion allowances, and specify materials for new equipment based on process conditions.
Corrosion Control Management
Define internal/external corrosion protection, review CP (Cathodic Protection) designs, and manage chemical injection/monitoring programs (coupons/probes).
Asset Integrity Inspection
Conduct failure investigations, perform remaining life assessments, and develop Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) plans.
Technical Support Compliance
Ensure compliance with industry codes (NACE MR0175/ISO 15156, DNV-ST-F101).
Welding Fabrication Support
Review Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and coating specifications
