About the Department
The Coordinator is primarily responsible for coordinating, planning, implementing, and marketing courses in the area of Human Resources Development (Employability Skills), as well as credit and non-credit Workforce Development courses.
The Coordinator will complete associated paperwork in a variety of subjects to ensure compliance with state and federal policies and/or grant regulations.

Under the direction of the Lead Coordinator of Workforce Development, the Coordinator will be responsible for the development, scheduling, classroom setup, promotion, and implementation of both current and new Human Resources Development (HRD) and Workforce Development courses to support the Gaston College strategic plan. Schedule and facilitate all orientation sessions in state-supported course offerings in the Workforce Development department. Administer Workforce Development scholarships, including student identification, application processing, and reporting. Maintain accurate records (such as attendance, grades, documentation, etc.) and submit any corresponding reports according to departmental or college guidelines. Monitor program budgets, complete payroll, expenditures, and purchase requisitions for supplies and materials. Serve as liaison between part-time instructors and HRD and Workforce Development staff. Serve as point of contact for phone, email, and walk-in inquiries for HRD and Workforce Development courses. Assist in the creation, development, and distribution of marketing materials. Promote HRD and Workforce Development courses by strengthening internal and external partnerships, including Gaston College faculty and staff, workforce boards, schools, and community agencies, to align programming with regional workforce needs. Identify and resolve barriers to student access and success and make appropriate referrals. Oversee and prepare all documentation required for Gaston College and NC Community College System compliance management and efficient administration of all courses and corresponding budgets. Audit courses to ensure compliance as required by the EWD Internal Audit Plan Participate in job fairs, professional conferences, workshops, career days, employee orientations, professional development activities, and regional and statewide meetings as assigned. Maintain confidentiality and professional standards while representing the college. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree from a nationally accredited institution required.
Three (3) years of professional work experience in a business or educational setting required.
Community College experience preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, OneDrive, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams.
Colleague software system experience preferred.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required.
Extreme attention to detail required.
Must be willing to obtain required training to enter Correctional facilities as requested.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Generally, works in a traditional climate-controlled office environment and requires the ability to sit for extended periods.
Occasional travel required to attend and represent the college at conferences, workshops, and professional events.
Some walking, standing, and bending required, and the ability to lift and maneuver items weighing up to 25 pounds.
Work environment can be stressful at times in dealing with a wide variety of challenges and deadlines.
In addition to regular office hours, position sometimes requires evening hours.
