Position Overview

Cook I position in the Food and Beverage & Culinary category at Aloft Hotels in Dubai.

The position is full time and non-management.

Cooking Responsibilities

  • Prepare special-diet meals and substitutions.
  • Adjust ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters to appropriate temperatures.
  • Thaw frozen food in refrigerators and prepare appropriate portions and presentations.
  • Maintain food records and monitor the quality and quantity of prepared food.
  • Report needed support during busy periods and surplus ingredients to the chef.
  • Inform food-service staff about specials and unavailable menu items.
  • Ensure ingredient quality and prepare cold food.
  • Follow recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and cooking checklists.

Operational and Service Duties

  • Follow company safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and hazardous working conditions to the manager.
  • Maintain a clean and professional uniform and appearance.
  • Anticipate and respond to guest service needs using clear and professional communication.
  • Listen to employee concerns and help ensure expected quality and standards are maintained.
  • Perform other reasonable duties requested by supervisors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of related work experience.
  • A technical, trade, or vocational school degree or qualification.
  • No supervisory experience is required.
  • No license or certification is required.
  • Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, twist, pull, squat, and reach above the head and below the knees.
