About the Role
Astra ProMed seeks a Consultant Pediatric Ophthalmologist to provide comprehensive ophthalmic care for children in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra. The role includes diagnosing and managing pediatric eye conditions, performing surgeries, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage pediatric ophthalmic conditions including refractive errors, amblyopia, strabismus, congenital cataracts, glaucoma, ROP, and ocular trauma
- Perform comprehensive eye examinations using age appropriate techniques
- Conduct pediatric ophthalmic surgical procedures such as strabismus surgery and congenital cataract surgery
- Screen premature infants for ROP and provide timely treatment
- Collaborate with pediatricians, neonatologists, neurologists, geneticists, and other specialists
- Counsel parents and caregivers regarding diagnosis, treatment, and preventive eye health
- Participate in emergency on call services and maintain medical documentation
- Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, research, teaching, and CME activities
Requirements
- Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) recognized by DoH Abu Dhabi
- Completion of an accredited residency in Ophthalmology
- Fellowship or equivalent subspecialty training in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus
- Board Certification in Ophthalmology with eligibility for Consultant designation as per DoH Abu Dhabi PQR
- Valid DoH Abu Dhabi License or Eligibility Letter preferred

- Consultant Pediatric Ophthalmologist position in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra Regions.

Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage pediatric ophthalmic conditions including refractive errors, amblyopia, strabismus, congenital cataracts, glaucoma, ROP, and pediatric ocular trauma.
- Perform comprehensive eye examinations using age appropriate assessment techniques.
- Conduct pediatric ophthalmic surgical procedures including strabismus surgery, congenital cataract surgery, and other specialized interventions.
- Evaluate and manage pediatric neuro ophthalmic and retinal disorders where applicable.
- Collaborate with pediatricians, neonatologists, neurologists, geneticists, and other specialists.
- Screen premature infants for ROP and provide timely treatment when indicated.
- Counsel parents and caregivers regarding diagnosis, treatment options, postoperative care, and preventive eye health.
- Participate in emergency on call services as required.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.
- Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, research, teaching, and CME activities.
- Adhere to DoH Abu Dhabi regulations, hospital policies, and international clinical guidelines.
Requirements
- Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) recognized by DoH Abu Dhabi.
- Completion of an accredited residency in Ophthalmology.
- Fellowship or equivalent subspecialty training in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.
- Board Certification in Ophthalmology with eligibility for Consultant designation as per DoH Abu Dhabi PQR.
