Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive and diligent neurosurgical care to all assigned patients including pre and post operative care
- Perform neurosurgical procedures within incumbent's competence
- Provide consultation services to physicians and other surgeons
- Assume after hours responsibility for neurosurgical cases and make daily rounds
- Refer to or consult with other neurosurgeons on complex cases
- Adhere to Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Medical Department
- Consult with anesthesiologist on choice of anesthesia
- Maintain complete and accurate records of all cases
- Participate in in service activities such as lectures, conferences, and rounds
- Keep confidentiality of patient's disease
- Participate in quality assurance activities including mortality and morbidity conference, peer review, audit, and chart review
Requirements
- Medical degree and specialization in neurosurgery
- Experience in performing major and minor neurosurgical procedures
- Ability to provide comprehensive pre and post operative care
- Knowledge of Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals standards

Position Overview
- The neurosurgeon provides neurosurgical patients with pre operative care, including diagnosis, operative care of all major and minor procedures in the field of neurosurgery and postoperative care.
- The neurosurgeon also provides preventive care of patients according to approved procedures as part of an integrated program of curative/preventive services.
Responsibilities
- Provides comprehensive and diligent neurosurgical care to all assigned patients including pre and post operative care and such neurosurgical procedures as are within incumbent's competence.
- Performs professional duties at the OPD at which outpatient neurosurgical care is to be rendered to patients.
- Provides consultation services to physicians and other surgeons and assumes after hours responsibility for the care of neurosurgical cases and makes daily rounds for those hospitalized.
- Refers to, or consults with, other neurosurgeons on those cases that require more specialized diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
- Adheres to the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Medical Department and assures that work performed is in keeping with the established standards of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals.
- Consults with the anesthesiologist on the choice of anesthesia to be used.
- Maintains complete and accurate records of all cases.
- Participates in and contributes to in service activities such as lectures, conferences and rounds.
- Keeps confidentiality of the patient's disease.
- Keeps a high standard in the neurosurgical field by attending meetings of neurosurgery, reviewing specialized journals and updated literature and keeps a high medical and ethical standard as required by the NMC Royal Hospital DIP, Dubai rules and regulations.
- Participates and contributes to all the quality assurance activities of the service (e.g. monthly mortality and morbidity conference, peer review, audit and chart review).
