Role Overview
A Construction Accountant manages job costs, project billing, and financial compliance for building and development projects.
The position is full-time and project-focused.
The role reports to the Controller or Chief Financial Officer.
Key Responsibilities
- Track direct and indirect expenses, including labor, materials, and equipment, for each site.
- Process progress billings, manage vendor invoices, and handle subcontractor payments.
- Compare actual spending against estimated budgets with project managers.
- Forecast cash needs for active and upcoming building phases.
- Prepare tax documents and ensure adherence to local financial regulations and tax laws.
Qualifications and Skills
- A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- At least 3 years of accounting experience is required, ideally in construction or project cost accounting.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and industry software such as QuickBooks or NetSuite is required.
- The role requires strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and communication with site managers.
