Workplace and Role Details
- The role is based in Mumbai or Pune and is onsite.
- The department is Product Engineering and the role reports to the Engineering Manager.
- The posting states full-time employment and at least five years of experience, with hiring across mid, senior, and lead levels.
Engineering Outcomes
- Deliver complete connectors into customer laboratories from discovery and design through implementation, testing, validation evidence, and documentation.
- Take an unfamiliar target system from vendor identification to a working integration plan without waiting for a task breakdown.
- Improve shared connector frameworks and tooling so each connector makes subsequent delivery faster.
- Use AI tooling to reduce the time from vendor documentation to working, tested code.
Core Responsibilities
- Build C#/.NET Windows service connectors for instruments and laboratory systems.
- Work with REST, vendor SDKs, COM/OLE, file systems, databases, serial protocols, and network protocols.
- Build for locked-down laboratory PCs, restricted networks, and machines that cannot be restarted freely.
- Meet data integrity and validation requirements in regulated environments.
- Troubleshoot integration issues in customer environments using structured problem-solving.
- Participate actively in design reviews, code reviews, and Agile ceremonies.
- Senior and Lead engineers lead new integration approaches and mentor colleagues.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Strong C# and .NET experience, including long-running Windows services rather than only web applications.
- Experience making integrations reliable when working with systems the candidate did not build or cannot change.
- Ability to determine system behavior from incomplete or missing documentation.
- Daily hands-on use of AI coding tools with sound judgment when reviewing their output.
- Track record of delivering against goals rather than predefined task lists.
- Strong fundamentals in software design, testing, debugging, Git, and CI/CD.
Good-to-Have Experience
- Experience with COM/OLE, Windows API, serial, GPIB, TCP/IP, or file-based integrations.
- Experience with laboratory informatics or scientific instruments, including LIMS, ELN, CDS, and chromatography.
- Experience with GxP, GAMP 5, 21 CFR Part 11, regulated software, or data integrity.
- Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, distributed or event-driven design, Node.js/TypeScript, cloud services, or AWS.
- Experience building AI agents or working with MCP servers.
Engineering Culture
- Engineers deliver features and outcomes rather than tickets and are expected to determine how systems work.
- AI-assisted development is used for design, code generation, testing, and documentation, with engineers accountable for the result.
- Connectors run in validated GxP laboratories, making data integrity, traceability, and auditability core design constraints.
- Team members are expected to identify problems, propose solutions, learn from mistakes, and share improvements.
Success Indicators
Connectors reach customer laboratories without requiring a fully written plan.
Each delivered connector makes the next connector easier to build.
AI tooling improves delivery speed and thoroughness while learnings spread across the team.
Product, quality, services, and platform colleagues trust the engineer's judgment.
At Senior or Lead level, connector decisions remain effective when the architect is unavailable.
Why Join Scitara
- Work with real laboratory instruments supporting scientific research and the development of new therapies.
- Handle varied integration projects, with each connector presenting a different system and problem.
- Work in an AI-native engineering culture with meaningful ownership of designs and decisions.
- Pursue technical leadership and architecture career paths.
