Role Description
The Compliance Director is a part-time, remote role overseeing regulatory, legal, and financial compliance for Oman Climate Week planning and execution.
The role supports compliance with climate event standards, local regulations, and organizational governance.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement compliance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments and monitor adherence to applicable laws and guidelines.
- Guide project teams on compliance matters.
- Review contracts and financial transactions for compliance implications.
- Prepare compliance reports and advise on ethical and transparency standards.
- Coordinate with legal, finance, and operations stakeholders.
- Track evolving climate, sustainability, and event-related regulations and recommend adjustments.
Qualifications
- Strong compliance management and regulatory compliance expertise is required.
- Legal compliance proficiency is required for reviewing contracts, policies, and procedures.
- Analytical skills are required for risk assessment and regulatory interpretation.
- Finance knowledge relevant to controls, reporting, anti-corruption, and anti-fraud measures is required.
- Previous governance, risk, and compliance experience in an international organization, NGO, government, or corporate setting is required.
- Climate or sustainability initiative experience is advantageous.
- Independent work, multicultural collaboration, and excellent English communication are required.
- Arabic proficiency is beneficial.
- A bachelor’s degree in law, finance, business administration, public policy, or a related field is required.
- Advanced degrees and professional certifications are preferred.
