How can you make a difference?

  • The Community Development Officer (WASH) leads community mobilization, hygiene promotion and reinforcement of social norms as part of the WASH programme in Kiribati.
  • The Officer provides relevant technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the WASH programming process.

Key Functions And Accountabilities

  • Programme development and planning
  • Programme management, monitoring and delivery of results
  • Technical and operational support for programme implementation
  • Humanitarian WASH preparedness and response
  • Networking and partnership building
  • Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building

Minimum requirements

  • Education: A university degree in one of the following fields is required: public health, social sciences, behavior change communication, sanitary engineering or another relevant technical field.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of two years of professional work experience in community development for WASH related programmes in developing countries is required.
  • Skills: Project management, stakeholder engagement, community mobilization, WASH programme support, monitoring & evaluation and data analysis & reporting.
  • Language Requirements: Proficiency in English and I Kiribati is required.

Desirables

  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish)
  • Regional or international development experience
  • WASH specific or technical expertise beyond basics
  • Background/familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.
  • Partnership and donor engagement experience
  • Training and capacity building experience
  • Strong reporting, M&E, and data skills
  • Developing country work experience
  • Familiarity with emergencies
