Communications Specialist

Key Qualifications

• Three years of communications experience in an agency or corporation.
• A two- to three-year certificate or diploma in public relations, communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field, or equivalent training and experience.
• Ability to build relationships with colleagues, business partners, and stakeholders.
• Experience developing communications plans that advance business goals.
• Ability to translate complex or sensitive information into clear, audience-appropriate communications.
• Sound judgment when handling confidential or time-sensitive information.
• Strong project management, organizational, planning, and logistical skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Media relations and issues or crisis communications experience is considered an asset.

On-Call Schedule

• The role participates in a rotating on-call schedule for 24/7 issues management and media relations.
• Employees on call must remain in town and accessible to respond as needed.
• Standby compensation is available during assigned on-call periods.

Additional Skills

• French language skills are an asset but are not required.
• Communications materials must follow CP Style and YVR’s style guide.

Workplace and Schedule

• The role has a flexible working arrangement with a hybrid schedule.
• On-site presence is required four days per week.

Compensation

• Salary ranges from $69,645 to $91,022 per annum based on a 37.5-hour work week.
• Standby compensation is available for scheduled on-call duty.
