Commis Chef Responsibilities
- Accurately measure meal ingredients for the Chef de Partie.
- Prepare and season meats and wash, peel, and chop vegetables and fruits.
- Prepare basic salads and sauces as directed by the Chef de Partie.
- Receive deliveries and verify that ordered items are complete and of good quality.
- Take inventory of restaurant supplies and notify the supervisor of low or depleted stock.
- Discard expired and spoiled food from stock rooms, refrigerators, and freezers.
- Perform basic cleaning and keep workstations properly sanitized.
- Plate and present meal items according to the Chef de Partie’s instructions.
Commis Chef Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Associate’s degree, diploma, or certification in culinary arts is advantageous.
- Proven commercial kitchen experience.
- Sound knowledge of food health and safety regulations.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Three years of hotel experience is required.
