The Commi 2 supports the kitchen team with basic food preparation, cleaning, storage, and other kitchen activities.
The role assists in maintaining smooth kitchen operations under the supervision of senior chefs while following food safety, hygiene, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare vegetables, fruits, meat, poultry, seafood, and other ingredients.
- Wash, peel, cut, chop, and portion ingredients as instructed.
- Assist Commi 1 and Chef de Partie during preparation and service.
- Follow recipes, preparation instructions, portion sizes, and kitchen procedures.
- Store, label, and rotate ingredients according to FIFO principles.
- Clean workstations, utensils, equipment, floors, and storage areas.
- Follow food safety, personal hygiene, and sanitation procedures.
- Check ingredient freshness and report damaged or spoiled products.
- Assist with receiving and organizing kitchen supplies when required.
- Minimize food waste and keep equipment and tools safely arranged.
- Support the team during busy periods and follow company and supervisor instructions.
Requirements
- Previous kitchen experience is preferred but not always required.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen hygiene.
- Willingness to learn cooking and kitchen skills.
- Good physical stamina and ability to work for extended periods.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Team player with good discipline and communication.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
