About the Role
GeoComply is seeking a Commercial Counsel for a 13-month contract to join its Legal team. You will review and negotiate commercial agreements, advise on privacy and data protection, and support global expansion.

Responsibilities
- Review, draft, interpret, and negotiate complex commercial agreements (NDAs, customer, license, consulting, vendor, data processing)
- Develop and implement legal strategy across commercial functions (revenue, business development, marketing, product, customer success)
- Advise on global expansion matters and enable new business opportunities in a legally compliant manner
- Advise on privacy and data protection initiatives, including compliance, risk identification, and governance
- Support subsidiaries on employment, IP, legal process, and equity plan matters
- Conduct research on emerging areas of law and assess legal risks
- Manage relationships with counterparties, advisors, and government authorities
- Develop and maintain legal templates, precedents, playbooks, and guidelines
Requirements
- Law degree from a highly ranked university and full qualification to practice law in North America
- Approximately 3 to 8 years of experience as a lawyer in a top tier law firm or in house department
- Experience reviewing, analyzing, and negotiating commercial contracts for products, services, and technology
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with privacy, data protection and similar areas of law
- Impeccable attention to detail and organizational skills
- Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills
- Sound business judgment and reasoning

Compensation
- CAD 116,000–159,500 per year
