Role Overview

The Chief Mechanical Engineer leads mechanical engineering, design, and delivery for rail metro projects.

The role ensures compliance with project specifications, standards, quality, safety, budget, and schedule requirements.

Engineering Leadership

  • Lead and manage mechanical engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide technical guidance and review engineering deliverables.
  • Support project teams in achieving engineering and project objectives.

Design and Systems Coordination

  • Oversee the design, review, and approval of mechanical system deliverables.
  • Coordinate depot and workshop equipment, HVAC, fire protection, water supply and drainage, lifts and escalators, ventilation, and building services.
  • Ensure designs are safe, reliable, maintainable, and cost-effective.
  • Coordinate with electrical, civil, architectural, signaling, telecom, and system engineering teams.

Project Execution

  • Manage multidisciplinary interfaces and resolve technical issues affecting delivery.
  • Provide engineering support during procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning.
  • Review vendor submissions, material approvals, and technical specifications.
  • Support timely resolution of site-related engineering issues.

Quality, Safety, and Risk

  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, international standards, quality procedures, and HSE requirements.
  • Identify engineering risks and implement mitigation measures.
  • Monitor engineering progress and provide technical status reports.
  • Support lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • A Master's degree is an advantage.
  • 20-25 years of experience in mechanical installation of infrastructure projects is required.
  • At least 10 years of experience in metro rail traction projects and 8 years in senior engineering leadership are required.
  • Experience with mechanical systems for rail or metro projects is required.
  • Experience in metro rail, railway infrastructure, urban transit, high-speed rail, transportation infrastructure, or EPC projects is preferred.
