Cafe kkai is rebuilding its kitchen and menu under new management from 1 September 2026.
The role serves café dine-in, a heavy weekday office-lunch rush, corporate catering, and delivery-platform orders.
This is a hands-on role in a small kitchen where organization is as important as cooking.
Responsibilities
- Help design a costed, quick-to-fire opening menu focused on weekday lunch.
- Cook on the line during every service.
- Set recipes, portion sizes, and plating standards.
- Manage ordering, suppliers, stock rotation, and wastage.
- Keep food costs within target.
- Run food-safety procedures and keep the kitchen inspection-ready.
- Lead a small team of a second chef, helper, and steward.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of cooking experience in UAE cafés or casual dining.
- Ability to cost dishes as well as cook them.
- Strong experience with breakfast, sandwiches, salads, and quick hot mains.
- Food safety certification, such as Person in Charge or an equivalent credential.
- Organized and calm performance during a concentrated lunch rush.
- Currently in the UAE and able to start by 1 September 2026.
Compensation and benefits
- Pay is AED 2,600 per month.
- Shared accommodation is provided in Al Quoz within walking distance of the café.
- Two duty meals are provided per shift.
- A team performance bonus applies once monthly sales exceed target.
- Medical insurance is provided.
- There is no transport allowance because the accommodation is walkable.
Workplace
- Work location is in person at the café in Al Quoz.
- The kitchen is upstairs and separate from the seating areas.
