Your key accountabilities will include

Lead, coach, and develop a team of 5–10 external Data Engineers and Data Ingestion Engineers, managing capacity, performance, and technical growth.

Define data engineering standards, best practices, and guardrails for the chapter, and ensure they are consistently adopted across the squad.

Design and build scalable, secure, and well-integrated data pipelines and ingestion frameworks in line with the enterprise-wide data strategy.

Partner with the QA team to reduce defect leakage, improve release quality, and reduce time to fix defects.

Partner with the BA team to translate business and functional requirements into robust technical solutions for the Learning Functional Data product.

Collaborate with Chapter Leads across other squads to align on shared standards, promote reuse, and balance business needs against technical priorities.

Increase sprint velocity through modern engineering practices such as DevSecOps, CI/CD, and cloud-oriented delivery.

Contribute towards hands-on design, development, and code review, acting as a technical role model for the team.

What You'll Bring

Education and Certifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Sciences, or a related field.

12+ years of relevant IT experience with a major focus on data engineering / data-related projects, preferably in large international organisations, including several years leading and managing engineering teams.

Functional/Technical Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience designing and building scalable data pipelines and ingestion frameworks.
  • Strong SQL and ETL/ELT experience (e.g., DBT, Talend, F iveTran, or similar).
  • Experience with cloud data platforms and warehouses such as Snowflake, AWS, and/or Azure.
  • Experience leading Agile development teams and reviewing design and implementation against quality standards.
  • Experienced in software/data delivery including CI/CD and related DevSecOps practices on cloud-based platforms.
  • Solid understanding of data modelling, data quality, testing, diagnostics, and performance tuning.
  • Ability to develop process documentation, technical manuals, and standards.
  • Familiar with Scrum and Kanban delivery methodologies and cross-functional Agile teams (Product Owners, QA, BA, Architects, data SMEs).

  • The Chapter Lead & Manager – Data Engineering is a position within LEAP, part of BCG's digital products organisation. Reporting to the Technical Team Lead (TTL) of LEAP, you will lead a team of external Data Engineers and Data Ingestion Engineers and work closely with the QA team, the Business Analysis (BA) team, Product Owners, and Chapter Leads across other squads to deliver the Learning Functional Data product. You will also share and adopt best practices as part of the Chapter Leads community.
