CCR - Control Room Desk Operator

Role Overview

Monitoring and Control

• Continuously monitor gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs, auxiliary systems, and electrical HV operations.
• Operate and adjust control systems to optimize plant performance within operational and efficiency limits.

Dispatch Coordination

• Coordinate Load Dispatch Centre instructions and ensure timely implementation.
• Adjust generation levels according to real-time demand and Power Purchase Agreement terms.

Recording and Reporting

• Maintain accurate records of operational parameters, performance metrics, and generation data.
• Prepare reports on plant performance, incidents, and regulatory compliance.

Safety and Compliance

• Follow safety protocols and participate in audits, drills, and training programs.
• Report hazards or incidents and support isolations and permit-to-work preparation.
• Serve as a member of the emergency response team.

Troubleshooting and Collaboration

• Identify and diagnose operational issues with technical staff and field operators.
• Implement corrective actions and recommend improvements to reduce downtime and improve reliability.
• Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams.
• Provide training and guidance to junior operators and new staff as required.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree or diploma, preferably in a mechanical or electrical discipline.
• Minimum five years of total professional experience.
• At least three years as a CCR operator in the operations and maintenance of combined cycle power plants.
• Siemens GT-based CCGT experience is preferred.
• Strong understanding of combined cycle generation, regulatory requirements, and PPA obligations.

Technical and Language Requirements

• Proficiency in English is essential; knowledge of Arabic is advantageous.
• Experience with control room operations and familiarity with Distributed Control Systems are required.
• Ability to manage high-pressure and emergency situations is required.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and other required shifts is required.

Work Environment

• Work is primarily performed in a control room, with occasional visits to plant facilities.
• Shift work is required, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
