This role is designed for experienced certifying engineers with a strong background in aircraft maintenance, airworthiness, and technical leadership.
The B1 Licenced Aircraft Engineer will certify mechanical, structural, and electrical maintenance while supporting safe, compliant, and timely aircraft delivery.
About The Role
The B1 Licenced Aircraft Engineer is responsible for certifying that aircraft mechanical, structural, and electrical maintenance has been completed in accordance with approved data and is safe for return to service.
This position ensures that all assigned aircraft meet applicable airworthiness requirements while supporting maintenance planning, technical oversight, documentation, and team performance.
Responsibilities
- Perform and certify aircraft maintenance activities within the scope of Part 145 authorisation and company approvals
- Maintain accountability for the technical integrity and airworthiness of all work performed
- Oversee the removal, installation, and certification of major aircraft components and systems, including landing gear, control surfaces, and engines
- Support post-maintenance testing and acceptance inspections to confirm compliance and airworthiness
- Lead, supervise, and coordinate technicians within the assigned work area
- Allocate tasks efficiently and ensure work is completed in accordance with daily maintenance plans
- Develop and monitor daily maintenance schedules to support timely aircraft delivery
- Identify potential delays, technical issues, and manpower constraints
- Propose practical solutions to maintain work continuity, quality, and compliance
- Liaise with management and provide regular updates on work progress, challenges, and corrective actions
- Ensure maintenance documentation, task cards, and work packages are completed accurately and signed off in accordance with regulations and company procedures
- Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians
- Promote a collaborative, professional, and compliant working environment
- Support the implementation of the organisation’s Safety and Quality Management Systems
- Participate in audits, investigations, and corrective actions as required
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations
- Stay current on Technical Notices, Quality Notices, and Airworthiness Directives affecting assigned aircraft types
Skills And Experience
- Valid GCAA or EASA Part 66 B1 Licence
- Type-rated on one or more of the following aircraft: B777, A350, A320, A380, or B787
- Multiple aircraft type ratings would be advantageous
- Minimum of five years’ experience in aircraft maintenance
- Experience working in both line and base maintenance environments
- Strong understanding of GCAA regulations, airworthiness requirements, and aircraft certification processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Proficient in maintenance management systems, technical documentation, and regulatory reporting tools
