Role Overview

  • The ATES Operational Safety & Change Specialist will develop and maintain safety assessments and cases for CNS systems, procedures, and infrastructure.
  • The role ensures compliance with GCAA regulations and international safety management standards.
  • Based at Al Maktoum International Airport, working with Dubai Air Navigation Services (dans).

Your Responsibilities

  • Ensure consistent application of safety assessment processes across projects and BAU activities, supporting regulatory approvals.
  • Develop CNS safety assessments and safety cases for new systems, procedures, and infrastructure in line with ICAO, GCAA, and dans SMS requirements.
  • Ensure all safety documentation is traceable, structured, and defensible per SMM and GCAA regulations.
  • Support preparation and submission of regulatory documentation and track conditions.
  • Act as Safety Work Package Manager for projects, ensuring alignment between timelines and safety deliverables.
  • Collaborate with project sponsors to develop safety strategies, identify hazards, and assess risks through HAZID sessions.

Your Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of Air Traffic Engineering experience at an airport.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Degree/diploma or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated experience in safety assessment, SMS application, and safety case development is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in managing or supporting change implementation from a safety perspective.
  • Experience in risk assessment techniques (e.g., HAZID, Bowtie, HAZOP).
  • Internal auditing or quality assurance exposure.
  • Experience working with or within regulatory bodies and part of a project team.
  • Classroom Instructional Techniques (CIT) course or equivalent.
  • Basic and Advanced Safety Management Systems experience including Aviation Safety Management.
  • Incident Investigation qualification.
  • Experience in a major international airport.
