Eligibility and Office Expectations
- The opportunity is funded in partnership with Mitacs and requires candidates to meet applicable eligibility criteria before hiring approval.
- Applicants must be enrolled at the University of Alberta, University of Calgary as a master's student, University of Waterloo, University of Toronto, or Queen's University.
- The role is based in Canada and requires occasional work from offices in Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto, and/or Waterloo.
What You'll Do
- Run user research and discovery conversations to identify how people use products and where they experience friction.
- Turn research findings into clear notes, summaries, and write-ups that help the team make decisions.
- Translate insights into user stories, requirements, simple wireframes or prototypes, and support for testing and feedback cycles.
- Build rough concepts and put them in front of users with the help of AI tooling.
- Draft release notes, communicate changes to clients, and follow up after releases.
- Share research findings and lessons learned, including what could be done differently.
What You Bring
- Interest in joining a product team and creating customer-focused solutions.
- Comfort receiving feedback early and iterating with real users on meaningful problems.
- Experience using AI tooling such as Claude in personal or professional work.
- Clear, confident communication and professionalism when engaging with teams and executives.
- Understanding of the product lifecycle and SDLC from concept through launch and iteration.
