Role Overview

KPMG's Tax Global Delivery Network supports global tax solutions through integrated delivery centers.

The Associate 2 supports day-to-day trade compliance functions for Global Trade and Customs managed services.

The role is an individual contributor reporting to a senior manager, assistant manager, or manager.

Responsibilities

  • Process and review data related to Trade and Customs operations.
  • Research and collect product engineering and manufacturing specifications.
  • Maintain electronic files and records using internal retention databases.
  • Review and audit transactional documents related to customs entries.
  • Support HS classification, FTA, post-entry review, restricted-party screening, and other trade compliance workflows.
  • Solicit suppliers, review responses, maintain trackers, and support free trade claims.
  • Coordinate with leads and managers on process improvements based on monthly KPIs.
  • Deliver timely, high-quality services and interact effectively with US teams and client contacts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Science/Commerce degree from an accredited college or university is required; a master's degree may also be considered.
  • At least 2 years of relevant trade compliance experience is required.
  • Administrative or data processing experience in a professional services environment is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

Technical Competencies

  • Assign Harmonized Tariff Schedule codes across medical, apparel, electrical, electronics, mechanical, and automotive commodities.
  • Apply GRI, Chapter, Section, and EN Notes in classification work.
  • Interpret CROSS and BTI decisions and draft classification rationales.
  • Experience with goods classified under Chapters 84, 85, and 90 is specified.
  • Experience developing or working with semi-automated HTS tools is specified.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required.

Team Skills

  • Work independently with limited assistance while maintaining quality and accountability.
  • Collaborate with clients, supervisors, managers, and team members.
  • Participate in training and cross-training to remain current with technology and process changes.
  • Share tools and best practices and communicate process issues to prevent repeat errors.
