About the Role
WSP in the Middle East seeks an Assistant Resident Engineer (Utilities) to support supervision of utilities infrastructure works in Abu Dhabi. The role requires a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering and 5-8 years of construction supervision experience on UAE utilities projects.

Responsibilities
- Assist the Resident Engineer in managing daily construction supervision activities for utilities works
- Supervise installation and construction of utilities including water supply networks, sewerage and stormwater systems, irrigation networks, district cooling/utility corridors, electrical and telecom ducting
- Monitor contractor performance to ensure work is executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and method statements
- Review and verify shop drawings, material submittals, and inspection requests
- Coordinate site inspections and ensure compliance with quality assurance and quality control procedures
- Ensure HSE standards are implemented and maintained on site
- Support progress monitoring, reporting, and preparation of site records
- Coordinate with relevant Abu Dhabi authorities and stakeholders for approvals and inspections
- Assist in resolving technical issues and site related challenges
- Verify measurements and support the review of contractor payment applications
- Ensure timely completion of snagging and close out activities
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience in construction supervision
- Mandatory experience working with construction supervision consultants on infrastructure and utilities projects
- Proven experience on utilities projects in the UAE, preferably Abu Dhabi
- Familiarity with local authority requirements (e.g., ADSSC, ADDC, ITC, municipality standards)
- Strong understanding of utilities construction methodologies
- Knowledge of FIDIC contracts and supervision practices
- Good coordination and communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Strong reporting and documentation skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and engineering documentation systems
