Role Overview
- Assistant psychologists will work under the guidance of a qualified psychologist to support patients and clients in various settings.
Typical Duties
- Clinical Support: Assisting with psychological assessments, interventions, and therapy sessions, including individual and group work, and supporting patients with mental health conditions or neurodivergent needs such as ADHD or autism.
- Administration and Data Management: Maintaining clinical databases, collecting and inputting outcome data, scoring psychometric assessments, drafting reports, letters, and summaries, and assisting with audits and research projects.
- Research and Development: Supporting research initiatives, preparing materials for clinical use, and contributing to service evaluation and development.
- Team Collaboration: Working as part of a multidisciplinary team that may include clinical, counselling, occupational therapists, speech therapist, and psychiatrists.
- Professional Development: Engaging in supervision, self reflection, and feedback to develop professional knowledge and skills, often as a stepping stone toward becoming a licensed Psychologist.
