Role Purpose

  • The Assistant Laundry Manager supports the Laundry Manager in overseeing day to day operations of the luxury garment care department, focusing on garment assessment, quality control, staff development, operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, production planning, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Luxury Garment Assessment & Care: Possess in depth knowledge of luxury garments, assess garment construction, fabric composition, and determine appropriate cleaning processes.
  • Quality Assurance & Operational Control: Conduct spot checks, ensure compliance with SOPs, monitor garment quality, and lead complaint investigations.
  • Team Leadership & Staff Development: Assist in managing workforce activities, support staff motivation, conduct on the job training, and develop cross training plans.
  • Operational Planning & Productivity: Support capacity planning, coordinate manpower and materials, monitor KPIs, and drive cost saving initiatives.
  • Inventory & Resource Management: Monitor stock levels of chemicals and supplies, coordinate with Purchasing and Marketing.
  • Meetings & Stakeholder Coordination: Represent Laundry Manager during absences, attend operational meetings, coordinate with other departments.
  • Customer & Business Support: Participate in client visits, support B2B relationships, and address customer concerns.
  • Compliance, HSE & Continuous Improvement: Support ISO standards, participate in HSE initiatives, monitor energy consumption, and drive continuous improvement.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Technical Knowledge: Dry cleaning, wet cleaning, hand washing, stain removal, garment finishing, luxury fabric care (silk, wool, cashmere, linen, velvet, leather, suede, fur), alteration and tailoring fundamentals, quality control, garment preservation.
  • Operational Skills: Production planning, workforce scheduling, inventory management, KPI monitoring, complaint handling, SOP implementation, staff training, capacity planning.
  • Leadership Competencies: Team management, performance monitoring, coaching and mentoring, problem solving, customer focused leadership, strong organizational skills.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Textile Technology, Textile Engineering, Fashion Technology, Garment Manufacturing, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial laundry.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a senior supervisory or assistant management role.
  • Proven experience handling luxury brands, couture garments, designer wear, bridal wear, and delicate fabrics.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
