Role Overview

Support day-to-day management of a farm with livestock and vegetation or crop operations.

Assist with livestock care, crop maintenance, irrigation, farm workers, equipment, productivity, hygiene, safety, and resource utilisation.

Livestock Management

  • Manage feeding, watering, cleaning, handling, and monitoring of animals.
  • Monitor animal health, behavior, growth, nutrition, and general condition.
  • Coordinate with veterinarians on vaccinations, treatments, breeding, and disease prevention.
  • Maintain livestock housing, hygiene, sanitation, and biosecurity standards.
  • Track feed, fodder, supplements, medicines, and livestock inventory.
  • Maintain records of animal numbers, births, deaths, vaccinations, treatments, breeding, and production.
  • Identify illness, injury, stress, or abnormal behavior and report it promptly.
  • Assist with breeding, calving, lambing, kidding, weaning, and other livestock activities.
  • Handle and move animals safely while minimizing stress and injury.

Vegetation and Crop Management

  • Plan and supervise planting, cultivation, harvesting, pruning, trimming, and vegetation maintenance.
  • Monitor vegetables, plants, trees, crops, grass, and other vegetation for health and growth.
  • Manage irrigation, fertilization, soil preparation, pest control, and weed management.
  • Monitor irrigation systems, water usage, pumps, tanks, and related equipment.
  • Coordinate workers on planting, harvesting, landscaping, cleaning, and maintenance.
  • Identify plant diseases, pest infestations, nutrient deficiencies, and other agricultural issues.
  • Store and handle seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, tools, and agricultural materials appropriately.

Farm Operations and Supervision

  • Assist the Farm Manager with planning and coordinating daily farm activities.
  • Supervise farm laborers, animal handlers, gardeners, agricultural workers, and other staff.
  • Allocate daily duties and monitor attendance, productivity, and work quality.
  • Maintain farm machinery, tools, vehicles, irrigation systems, and other equipment.
  • Monitor consumption of feed, water, fertilizers, pesticides, seeds, fuel, and other resources.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and waste-management practices.
  • Support procurement and maintain adequate stock of farm supplies.
  • Prepare daily and weekly operational reports.
  • Support farm improvement, expansion, and modern farming projects.

Health, Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with farm safety, hygiene, animal welfare, and environmental requirements.
  • Ensure employees use appropriate PPE and follow safe work procedures.
  • Maintain chemical handling and storage procedures.
  • Ensure safe operation of farm machinery and equipment.
  • Implement biosecurity and disease-prevention measures.
  • Report accidents, animal incidents, equipment failures, and other operational issues immediately.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or bachelor's degree in agriculture, animal husbandry, veterinary science, horticulture, agribusiness, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in mixed livestock and vegetation or crop farm operations.
  • Experience supervising farm workers and coordinating daily agricultural activities.
  • Practical knowledge of livestock handling, animal care, feeding, breeding, and basic health monitoring.
  • Knowledge of irrigation, planting, fertilization, pest control, harvesting, and vegetation maintenance.
  • Basic understanding of farm machinery, equipment, and irrigation systems.
  • Good record-keeping and reporting skills.
  • Physical fitness and comfort working in an outdoor farm environment.

Additional Experience

  • Experience on large farms, farmhouses, agricultural estates, or private or villa farms.
  • Experience handling multiple livestock species, including cattle, sheep, goats, poultry, or camels.
  • Experience with vegetable cultivation, fruit trees, landscaping, greenhouse operations, or plantation management.
  • Hot or arid climate experience is advantageous.
  • Veterinary or agricultural technical knowledge is advantageous.
