Responsibilities
- Assist the Chief Steward in managing all aspects of the stewarding department, including staffing, training, and performance management
- Oversee daily operations of dishwashing, kitchen cleaning, and equipment sanitation, ensuring adherence to health and safety standards
- Monitor inventory levels and assist in ordering supplies, equipment, and chemicals
- Conduct regular inspections of kitchen areas, storage rooms, and equipment to ensure cleanliness and organization
- Collaborate with culinary team to coordinate service needs and maintain cleanliness during events and meal service
- Develop and implement training programs for new staff on cleaning techniques, safety protocols, and equipment use
- Assist in development and management of departmental budgets
- Foster a positive and cooperative work environment
- Address and resolve operational issues or guest concerns promptly
- Stay informed about industry trends in stewarding and sanitation practices
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; degree in hospitality management or related field preferred
- Minimum of two years experience in stewarding or related roles, preferably in a luxury hotel or resort setting
- Strong leadership skills with ability to motivate and mentor a diverse team
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to food service and kitchen operations
- Proficient in inventory management and cost control

Your Day to Day
- The Assistant Chief Steward plays a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and organization within the hotel’s food and beverage operations.
- Assisting the Chief Steward in managing all aspects of the stewarding department, including staffing, training, and performance management.
- Overseeing the daily operations of dishwashing, kitchen cleaning, and equipment sanitation, ensuring adherence to all health and safety standards.
- Monitoring inventory levels and assisting in ordering supplies, equipment, and chemicals necessary for the department.
- Conducting regular inspections of kitchen areas, storage rooms, and equipment to ensure cleanliness and organization.
- Collaborating with the culinary team to coordinate service needs and maintain high standards of cleanliness during events and meal service.
- Developing and implementing training programs for new staff, focusing on proper cleaning techniques, safety protocols, and equipment use.

What We Need From You
