Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person work at North Campus Edmonton.
The Faculty of Law at the University of Alberta invites applications for up to three tenure-stream appointments at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to begin July 1, 2027.
The Faculty will also consider applications for appointment at a higher rank in appropriate circumstances.
The Faculty of Law invites applications from exceptional candidates with demonstrated potential for excellence in research and teaching in any area of law.
Founded in 1912, the Faculty of Law is the oldest law school in Western Canada.
It is situated on the North Campus of the University of Alberta, centrally located in Alberta’s capital city, a metropolitan center of 1.3 million people.
Members of the Faculty of Law are recognized nationally and internationally as distinguished scholars and teachers, and lead by example in their service to the university, legal and civic communities.
The Faculty enrolls approximately 525 JD students and has a growing graduate program.
It is also known for its exceptional strengths in mooting and experiential learning.
The Faculty of Law is home to a thriving community of scholars and graduate students who are tackling some of the most pressing legal issues of our times.
The definition of legal scholarship is expanding, with interdisciplinary, community-based, and collaborative research flourishing in this new scholarly eco-system.
The faculty is at the forefront of this evolution.
By adopting a multiplicity of methodologies and perspectives, researchers are well positioned to make meaningful contributions to judicial decision-making, law reform, academic debate, and community-based initiatives.
The Faculty is also home to five research centres and institutes that contribute to the scholarly depth of the community: the Health Law Institute, the Centre for Constitutional Studies, the Alberta Law Reform Institute, the Environmental Law Centre, and the Wahkohtowin Law and Governance Lodge.
