This position has a term length of 1 year plus 1 day.

Location - This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton.

Candidate will perform wet bench experiments in a research lab under supervision of and as directed by the supervisor.

The primary purpose of the position is to assist the supervisor by performing experiments and helping with lab maintenance.

Experimental protocols will include but are not limited to molecular biology techniques for plasmid construction and DNA analysis, microbiology techniques for the culture and analysis of yeast and bacteria, protein extraction/purification/analysis.

The candidate will collect and record data to be interpreted by the supervisor.

Some work with radioisotopes and biohazardous materials may be performed so radiation safety training will be required.

Additionally, some common lab tasks such as maintaining stock solutions, medium, glassware and supplies will be assigned.

The candidate will share responsibility for lab maintenance and waste disposal with other lab members.

The candidate will be responsible for some aspects of lab organization such as maintaining plasmid and cell collections under direction of the supervisor.
