Responsibilities
- Develop and execute archival management strategies aligned with organizational objectives, records governance policies, and long term preservation goals
- Oversee the acquisition, appraisal, classification, cataloging, preservation, and retrieval of physical and digital archival materials
- Collaborate with legal, compliance, research, IT, cultural heritage, administration, and executive teams to ensure proper records management and information governance
- Implement archival standards, classification systems, metadata frameworks, retention schedules, and digital preservation protocols
- Manage digitization projects, electronic document management systems (EDMS), and archival database platforms to enhance accessibility and preservation
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including retrieval accuracy, cataloging efficiency, digitization progress, preservation quality, user access satisfaction, and compliance adherence
- Ensure compliance with national archival regulations, data protection laws, intellectual property requirements, and international archival standards (e.g., ISO 15489, ISAD(G))
- Conduct audits of archival systems, records inventories, and documentation workflows to ensure accuracy, integrity, and completeness
- Develop preservation strategies for fragile, historical, and high value records using conservation best practices and environmental controls
- Support research requests, institutional inquiries, and public access services while maintaining confidentiality and security protocols
- Prepare archival reports, inventory summaries, compliance documentation, preservation plans, and executive updates for senior leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop archivists, records officers, digitization specialists, and archival support staff while fostering a culture of accuracy, preservation excellence, and continuous improvement
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Archival Studies, Library Science, Information Management, History, Cultural Heritage, or related field
- Master's degree in Archival Science, Library and Information Science (MLIS), or Records Management is highly advantageous
- 5+ years of experience in archives management, records management, information governance, or cultural heritage documentation
- 2+ years of experience managing archival teams, digital preservation projects, or records governance programs preferred
- Strong understanding of archival principles, records classification, metadata standards, digital preservation, and information governance frameworks
- Experience with archival management systems, digital repositories, document management systems (DMS), metadata tools, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with ISO archival standards, data protection regulations, conservation practices, and digitization workflows is advantageous
- Strong organizational, analytical, research, documentation, and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, cataloging accuracy, and cross functional collaboration abilities
- Ability to manage large scale archival systems while balancing preservation integrity, accessibility, compliance, and operational efficiency
- Ability to work independently in remote and hybrid environments
