Must-have qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in speech technology, including ASR or TTS, or Arabic NLP, with production ASR deployment experience.
- Native or near-native Arabic with strong command of Gulf dialects and fluent English.
- Hands-on experience with modern speech stacks such as Whisper-family, wav2vec2, NeMo, Kaldi, or commercial engines, including fine-tuning and evaluation.
- Streaming or real-time speech processing experience with solid Python and audio DSP fundamentals.
- Rigorous evaluation experience covering WER/CER methodology, test-set construction, and error analysis.
Key responsibilities
- Select, benchmark, fine-tune, and deploy Arabic and English ASR for live sessions, including streaming transcription, diarization, and code-switching.
- Optimize systems for Gulf and Emirati Arabic and challenging conditions such as children’s speech, distance microphones, and room reverberation.
- Build a prosody and voice-characteristics pipeline covering pitch, energy, pace, and pause patterns as noncontent behavioural signals.
- Own speech-quality measurement using WER by language and dialect, human usability ratings, and transparent reporting.
- Localize the product experience with the UX lead through Arabic transcripts, RTL rendering, and terminology consistency.
- Contribute Arabic scenario scripts and act as a native-language quality gate through rehearsals and expert reviews.
