Role overview

Payments Canada is seeking an Analyst, Technology Governance to support enterprise data governance, GRC, and technology lifecycle frameworks.

The role connects technical systems with business accountability by mapping data assets, establishing ownership, and supporting policy adherence.

The position reports to the Manager, Technology Governance.

Data management and governance

  • Audit systems to map data lineage, identify gaps, and establish ownership and remediation authority.
  • Analyze backend ingestion, field headers, and data flows when new systems are onboarded.
  • Maintain the corporate data catalog and business glossaries.

Policy and GRC operations

  • Facilitate technology policy and standards reviews with owners and peer reviewers.
  • Track process, vendor, and technology exceptions through documentation and approval lifecycles.
  • Maintain governance documentation integrity, version control, and ServiceNow synchronization.

Automation and reporting

  • Develop, publish, and maintain automated dashboards for compliance, data governance metrics, and framework maturity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data analytics, information technology, information management, or a related field.
  • Three to five years of progressive experience in data governance, systems analysis, or IT compliance.
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks, including lineage, metadata, and data catalogs.
  • Experience analyzing data structures, database schemas, or data flows.
  • ServiceNow or similar GRC/ITSM experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and advanced dashboarding or data visualization tools.
  • Eligibility to complete criminal, credit, identity, employment, and education background checks.
  • Travel within Canada may be required.

Technical and personal skills

  • Knowledge of the Canadian payments industry and clearing and settlement systems.
  • Understanding of payments risk, data analytics, and related payment issues.
  • Strong analytical reasoning, research, writing, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, relationship management, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage information, maintain quality, and work independently or within a team.

  • The role is described as operating in a flexible hybrid remote and office environment.

Compensation

  • The target starting rate is CAD 83,300, with flexibility based on experience and qualifications.
