This role is based out of our Brookfield Office in downtown Calgary, Alberta .
The Finance and Accounting team at SECURE is a dynamic, collaborative group focused on driving financial accuracy and process improvements within the Specialty Chemicals business group. The team offers an engaging environment where students are encouraged to develop their skills, contribute to meaningful projects, and gain a strong understanding of finance in a supportive and fast-paced setting.
This is a full-time student position based in our Calgary office, working Monday to Friday. You’ll work in a collaborative, professional environment where curiosity, accuracy, and continuous improvement are valued. The role will involve a balance of independent analytical work, detailed financial review, and collaboration with teams across the business.
Transaction Recording and Reconciliation: Support daily accounting activities, including recording bank transactions, prepaid expenses, and accruals.
Month-End Close : Assist with balance sheet account reconciliations and other month-end close activities.
Profit and Loss Analysis: Conduct variance reviews of monthly results, analyzing performance against forecasts.
Accounts Receivable: Support the timely entry of customer cheques and EFT payments and prepare journal entries for reconciliations.
Process Improvement: Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance accounting processes.
Cross-Department Collaboration: Work with other business areas to build an understanding of operations and support finance-related initiatives.
Ad Hoc Support: Take on additional tasks and project work as needed to support team objectives
Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, ideally in the second or third year of study.
Naturally curious with an interest in understanding how financial information is created, organized, and used to support business decisions.
Analytical and comfortable working with numbers, spreadsheets, and detailed information.
Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and consistency.
Enjoys investigating discrepancies, identifying trends, and solving problems.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
Team-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable working independently.
Proactive approach to learning, asking questions, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Professionalism and a positive attitude in all interactions.
