Role Overview

Accounting Operations

• Oversee the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash, and fixed assets.
• Ensure accurate transaction recording under approved accounting policies.
• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
• Review journal entries, reconciliations, schedules, accruals, provisions, prepayments, revenue, and expenses.
• Manage intercompany accounting, reconciliations, and eliminations where applicable.
• Maintain complete and reliable financial data throughout the accounting cycle.

Reporting and Compliance

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements under IFRS or applicable standards.
• Ensure compliance with local tax laws, VAT regulations, and statutory reporting requirements.
• Coordinate external audits and resolve audit findings.
• Prepare and submit tax returns, VAT filings, and regulatory reports.
• Monitor changes in accounting standards and regulations and assess their business impact.

Controls and Process Improvement

• Establish and monitor internal financial controls and identify control gaps and compliance risks.
• Support internal audits and ensure corrective actions are completed on time.
• Strengthen accounting procedures, workflows, documentation, and segregation of duties.
• Support fraud prevention and promote ethical accounting practices.
• Improve accounting systems and reduce manual processes through automation.

Planning and Business Support

• Lead annual budgeting and support forecasting, financial planning, and resource allocation.
• Monitor budget performance, investigate variances, and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide financial analysis and management reports for business decisions.
• Translate complex financial information into actionable insights for financial and non-financial stakeholders.

Team Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team.
• Allocate responsibilities and establish clear performance expectations.
• Provide technical guidance and training on accounting standards and best practices.
• Promote effective workload management and prioritization.
• Partner with other departments, Finance leadership, and senior management on accounting and strategic matters.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• CPA, CMA, or an equivalent professional certification is highly preferred.
• At least four years of accounting experience.
• Strong experience in financial reporting, external audits, statutory compliance, and financial controls.
• Experience in a structured finance environment and with ERP systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modelling, pivot tables, reconciliations, and data analysis.
• Experience with financial reporting and consolidation tools is an advantage.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of accounting software, ERP environments, GAAP, IFRS, and financial reporting standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic.
• Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and people-development skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and communicate with senior stakeholders.
• Proactive mindset, commercial awareness, strategic thinking, and commitment to continuous improvement.
