Greeting all customers in a friendly manner within 60 seconds of their arrival
Approaching and interacting with any customers within 15 feet of you
Helping customers find products and sharing product knowledge, including being able to identify and differentiate lumber species, grades, dimensions, and common building materials
Using our customer service approach – Greet, Qualify, Recommend, and Close – to understand each customer’s project and suggest the right products (and any helpful add-ons)
Loading products into customers’ vehicles
Completing daily yard upkeep: culling and flat-stacking lumber, labelling products and prices, maintaining pallets, and keeping stock organized
Keeping the yard clean, safe, and welcoming for both customers and teammates
Collaborating with the store team to communicate product availability, flag stock issues, and ensure a seamless customer experience from yard to checkout
Always working in compliance with WorkSafeBC Standards
Staying in the loop on current promotions and product availability
Completing opening and closing duties for the yard
No experience in lumber or construction? No problem, we’ll teach you what you need to know! Here’s what will set you up for success:
A passion for customer service and a go-above-and-beyond attitude
Curiosity and willingness to build product knowledge
Willingness to learn about products and a genuine curiosity about what customers are building
A collaborative, team-first mindset
Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills
Detail oriented with a strong commitment to safe work practices
Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
Comfortable working in all types of weather conditions
Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
Forklift certification or previous forklift experience is an asset
Previous experience in lumber, construction, or retail is an asset
