About the Role
Acwa is seeking a Welder to carry out maintenance, modification, overhauling, and installation activities on mechanical machinery. The role requires performing welding/fitting/fabrication work during outages on steam turbines, gas turbines, generators, and auxiliaries.

Responsibilities
- Carry out required welding/fitting/fabrication work according to outage procedures
- Monitor and ensure working condition of all welding tools and machinery
- Respond to on site failures and implement corrective actions
- Perform on site welding during outages on steam turbines, gas turbines, generators, steam valves and their auxiliaries
- Ensure proper pre and post weld procedures
- Read and understand technical manuals, mechanical diagrams and fabrication drawings
- Execute complex fitting procedures on High Chrome alloys, Inconel, P91 and coordinate pre and post weld heat treatment
- Perform complex position welding and coordinate NDT
- Guide semi skilled helpers and cleaners
- Update maintenance logbook and record details of work carried out
Requirements
- Technical certificate / Associate's Diploma in technical field with specialization in Welding or material science
- 6G welding certification on GTAW/SMAW process for CS/SS/Inconel 617/P91 F22
- 3 5 years solid experience in mechanical maintenance as a technician in installation, maintenance and repair of rotating equipment and auxiliaries in an industrial plant or field service environment
- Practical knowledge of relevant plant equipment such as gas turbines, steam turbines, valves, pumps, exchangers
- Practical knowledge of welding principles including process, NDT, heat treatment, material differences
- Awareness of HSE & quality standards
- Team work and effective collaboration skills

Job Purpose
- To carry out maintenance, modification, overhauling and installation activities on the mechanical machinery in accordance with standard operating procedures and industry best practices, HSE guidelines and quality standards.
Field Service Welding
- Carry out required welding/fitting/fabrication work according to outage procedures/ as directed by Technical Field Advisor, Field Service Engineer or Outage manager.
- Monitor and ensure the working condition of all Welding tools and machinery in the toolroom/tool container and report non conformances.
- Respond to on site failures together with the outage team and implement corrective actions.
- Perform on site welding during outages on Steam turbines, Gas turbines, Generators, Steam valves and their auxiliaries.
- Ensure proper / required pre and post weld procedures are in place as well as implemented during the welding of any material.
- Read and understand technical manuals, mechanical diagrams and fabrication drawings.
- Execute complex fitting procedures on High Chrome alloys, Inconel, P91 and coordinate pre and post weld heat treatment and controlled cooldown as required.
- Perform complex position welding and coordinate NDT on the performed.
- Work timely, independently and diligently on assigned jobs and report abnormalities.
- Guide semi skilled helpers and cleaners to support the welding work.
- Work safely and understand site hazards.
Inventory
- Check the necessary stock levels of consumables, welding rods, Welding filler, gases and welding PPE.
Documentation
- Update the maintenance logbook and record details of work carried out including daily progress report, filling out measurement protocols, defaults, problems, various findings and conditions of all machines.
- Sign the daily site , meeting and Toolbox talk attendance sheets.
Minimum Qualifications
- A technical certificate / Associate’s Diploma in technical Field, with a specialization in Welding or material science or equivalent through experience.
- 6G welding certification on GTAW/SMAW process for CS/SS/Inconel 617/P91 F22.
