Veterinary Anesthesia Technician – Large Animals

Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and administer anesthesia under veterinarian supervision for large animal procedures.
• Monitor vital signs including heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and temperature during anesthesia.
• Assist in surgical preparation, patient restraint, recovery, and post-operative care.
• Operate and maintain anesthesia machines, ventilators, monitoring equipment, and related devices.
• Prepare anesthetic drugs and calculate accurate dosages based on animal species and weight.
• Ensure proper documentation of anesthesia records and treatment procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness, sterilization, and organization of surgical and anesthesia areas.
• Assist veterinarians during emergency and critical care situations.
• Follow infection control, safety, and animal welfare protocols.
• Coordinate with veterinary teams to ensure high standards of patient care.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Veterinary Nursing, Veterinary Technology, Anesthesia Technology, or related field.
• Minimum 2–5 years of experience in veterinary anesthesia, preferably with large animals.
• Experience handling horses, camels, livestock, or equine patients is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of anesthesia protocols, monitoring systems, and emergency procedures.
• Ability to work in fast-paced surgical and clinical environments.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Physically fit and comfortable working with large animals.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in equine or camel hospitals.
• Certification in veterinary anesthesia or critical care.
• Knowledge of inhalation anesthesia systems and ventilators.
• Experience in emergency and intensive care support.
