Variable Hours Officer at Columbia University — New York City, USA | Base Career

The Variable Hours Officer will report to the Principal Investigator of clinical research projects that the research officer is engaged in.

Under the supervision of the investigators, the officer will help develop and implement clinical research protocols and provide support in conducting research procedures including study visits and institutional review board regulatory requirements.

This will include data collection, entry, queries and analysis.

The VHO may also interface with electronic health records, nursing, radiology, information technology services, and others as needed to set up and maintain data platform(s).

Engagement in team communication and meetings will be expected.

Opportunities in scholarly activities and scientific writing along with ongoing training will be provided.

Organization and preparation of research files, findings, and reports. Organizing, coordinating and attendance at research meetings. Assisting in medical chart review, data collection and entry. Designing and maintaining REDCap data dictionary. Maintaining web-based monitoring data platform. Subject screening, recruitment, and enrollment. Performing qualitative and quantitative analysis. Assisting in scholarly activities and writing. Ability to work in-person at the CUMC Manhattan campus at 168th Street. Ability to meet responsibilities in time frames agreed upon with Dr. Naqvi. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience.

Good interpersonal skills.
Good English fluency.
Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and via email.
Prior experience with research is preferred.
Experience with database management is preferred (Excel and/or REDCap).
Prior experience working in hospitals is preferred.
