About the Department

The Newaygo County Commission on Aging is seeking an individual who has a passion for helping others to fill the Van Driver position.

The selected candidate will be responsible for transporting people on a door-to-door basis to locations within Newaygo County and healthcare appointments outside of Newaygo County.

Being a van driver is a great way to give back to the community and make a difference.

The selected candidate will be responsible for transporting people on a door-to-door basis to locations within Newaygo County and healthcare appointments outside of Newaygo County.

Performs pre-trip/post-trip inspections, prepares vehicle condition information, records passenger donations, and completes all other required paperwork including passenger information, accident, and incident reports.

Operates transit vehicles in accordance with published schedules.

Operates wheelchair lifts and assists in properly securing wheelchair passengers and chairs.

Assists elderly and disabled passengers.

Maintains order and behavior of transit passengers in a courteous and professional manner, and deals with customer inquiries, complaints and suggestions.
