About the Role
Homebase seeks a UX Engineer to join the Designbase team, building and maintaining the component library in Storybook, bridging Figma and code, and ensuring design-to-code fidelity across web and native.

Responsibilities
- Build net new components from Figma review to coded component to documented Storybook story.
- Maintain and evolve existing components – audit the library regularly, deprecate stale, upgrade brittle.
- Bridge Figma and code with zero drift – be the source of truth on what's shipped.
- Write documentation that engineers actually use – clear usage guidelines, prop tables, do/don't examples, accessibility notes.
- Leverage AI as a force multiplier – scaffold components, generate test coverage, draft documentation.
- Work closely with iOS and Android teams – learn/write in Swift or Kotlin to support mobile components.
- Advocate for accessibility – bake WCAG compliance into component architecture.
- Support cross team adoption – partner with product engineers, review PRs, answer questions.
- Own the system layer – think about token architecture, Figma to code pipeline, how tokens flow across web and native.
Requirements
- 2 5 years of frontend, UX engineering, or design engineering experience with meaningful time in a design systems context
- Design judgment to catch hierarchy, spacing, and interaction problems
- Storybook fluency – owned or significantly contributed to a component library documented in Storybook
- Demonstrated ability to maintain design to code fidelity
- Cross platform thinking – know where web and native components can share logic and diverge
- Accessibility knowledge – WCAG 2.1 AA on web, awareness of platform accessibility standards on native
- High AI proficiency – actively use AI tools in workflow
- Strong written communication
- Prototyping fluency – build interactive prototypes in code
- Component testing fluency – write tests with React Testing Library and Jest
