Banff Mineral Springs Hospital is seeking an experienced and collaborative leader to join our team as Manager, Surgical Services. Reporting to the Site Administrator, the Manager is responsible for the operational, clinical, financial, and human resource leadership of Surgical Services, including the Operating Room, Pre-assessment Clinic, surgical booking and associated surgical support services. The successful candidate will provide leadership to a multidisciplinary team while ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. The Manager will work closely with physicians, surgical teams, Covenant Health, and community partners to support excellence in orthopedic and plastic surgery services. Surgical services at Banff Mineral Springs Hospital include both inpatient and day surgery procedures, primarily focused on orthopedic and plastic surgery. This position is non-unionized.
Operational Leadership. Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of Surgical Services programs. Ensure efficient utilization of operating room resources, staffing, equipment, and surgical schedules. Monitor service delivery, access, patient flow, and operational performance indicators. Support the coordination of inpatient and day surgery surgical services. Clinical Quality and Patient Safety. Foster a culture of safety, quality improvement, and patient-centered care. Ensure compliance with Covenant Health, accreditation, infection prevention, and occupational health standards. Lead quality improvement initiatives and monitor clinical outcomes. Support evidence-informed practices and continuous improvement activities. People Leadership. Recruit, mentor, coach, and develop nursing and support staff. Foster employee engagement, collaboration, and professional growth. Manage performance, attendance, labour relations, and workforce planning activities. Promote a respectful and inclusive workplace culture. Financial and Resource Management. Develop and manage operational budgets. Monitor expenditures and identify opportunities for efficiency and service improvement. Ensure effective stewardship of equipment, supplies, and capital resources. Strategic Leadership. Contribute to site and zone planning initiatives. Partner with surgeons, anesthesiologists, physicians, and administrative leaders to support service growth and innovation. Support implementation of organizational priorities and strategic objectives. Participate in emergency preparedness and operational planning.

Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related healthcare discipline. Current registration and good standing with an applicable professional regulatory body. Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience in an acute care environment. Demonstrated experience leading surgical, perioperative, or procedural services. Strong knowledge of operating room workflows, patient safety principles, and healthcare operations. Proven ability to lead teams, manage change, and build effective partnerships.
