UI/UX Director

Role overview

Design leadership

• Set creative and technical direction across UI/UX initiatives and lead mobile-first design for digital experiences.
• Oversee design systems, component libraries, Figma Variables, design tokens, and front-end handoffs.
• Maintain standards for visual consistency, motion, craftsmanship, performance, and WCAG accessibility.

E-commerce and strategy

• Lead design for e-commerce initiatives involving Shopify, Adobe Commerce, React.js, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Use data and customer insights to inform design strategy and business outcomes.
• Evaluate emerging AI tools for prototyping, workflow improvement, and team efficiency.

People and operations

• Manage, mentor, and develop UX and UI designers across multidisciplinary teams.
• Own resource allocation, estimation, capacity planning, workload balancing, forecasting, and delivery coordination.
• Monitor creative budgets, improve processes, and remove operational bottlenecks with project management.

Clients and business development

• Lead strategic client discussions, executive presentations, proposals, and new business pitches.
• Translate client objectives into digital strategies and guide senior stakeholders through design decisions.
• Advocate for human-centered design, user research, accessibility, and strategic UX/UI.

Experience and expertise

• At least 10 years of digital design experience, preferably in an agency environment, with significant creative leadership experience.
• Expert UI design capability with practical front-end development experience and knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React.js.
• Advanced Figma and Adobe Creative Suite proficiency.
• Strong understanding of Shopify, Adobe Commerce, UX principles, user research, information architecture, responsive design, and WCAG standards.

Leadership and commercial skills

• Experience with data interpretation, capacity planning, forecasting, estimation, resource allocation, and project budgets.
• Exceptional storytelling, presentation, communication, negotiation, and senior stakeholder relationship skills.
• Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities for multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to experiment with AI-powered tools and rapid-prototyping approaches.
