About the Role
BAE Systems is seeking an experienced Typhoon Mechanical Operator to perform detailed base maintenance on Typhoon aircraft in Dukhan, Qatar. The role involves undertaking maintenance, inspections, fault rectification, and ensuring compliance with airworthiness regulations.

Responsibilities
- Undertake detailed maintenance, inspection activities on Typhoon Mechanical systems
- Assist in resolving faults and maintenance issues, including configuration management
- Perform component removals, inspections, repairs, modifications, fault rectifications, replacements, and functional/system tests
- Progress reporting against delivery targets to supervisor
- Undertake support tasks within the Base Maintenance Facility to maintain compliance with MOE and QAF procedures
- Ensure all maintenance activities are appropriately documented and airworthiness records are maintained
Requirements
- Typhoon Mechanical Experience
- Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally in Aeronautical Engineering or Military Equivalent
- Minimum of City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance or equivalent
- Minimum of 1 year working within Typhoon Base Maintenance
- IT Literate

Role Overview
- The post holder will report to the Mechanicals Junior Supervisor and be an experienced and skilled Mechanical technician.
- Undertake a range of detailed base maintenance activities on Typhoon aircraft.
- Requires experience of maintenance on the Typhoon, understanding of approved data set, and competence in carrying out maintenance instructions.
Core Activity
- Undertaking detailed maintenance, inspection activities on the Typhoon Mechanical systems.
- Assisting in resolving faults and maintenance issues, including an awareness of configuration management.
- Undertaking and completing tasked maintenance activities on Typhoon Mechanical systems, which may include component removals, inspections, repairs, modifications, fault rectifications, replacements, and functional/system tests.
- Demonstrating a flexible and proactive attitude.
- Maintaining a personal task authorisation for working on components in accordance with QAF requirements.
- Progress reporting against delivery targets to supervisor.
- Undertaking support tasks within the Base Maintenance Facility.
- Undertaking fault evaluation and raising ad hoc work cards for 'found faults'.
- Ensuring all Maintenance activities are appropriately documented and airworthiness records are maintained.
- Maintaining a personal Log Book to demonstrate currency and recency.
Key Accountabilities
- Performance indicators – Leading by example to provide effective maintenance activities.
- Procedure/standards – Comply with the regulatory framework and its associated procedures.
- Safety Management System – Ensure human factors and error management philosophies are applied.
- Continuing Airworthiness Assurance (Quality) – Ensure maintenance activities are compliant.
- Statutory/Regulatory & Legislative requirements – Demonstrate appropriate understanding.
- Contractual Requirements – Comply with all applicable contractual requirements.
Essential
- Typhoon Mechanical Experience.
- Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally in Aeronautical Engineering or Military Equivalent.
- Minimum of City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance or equivalent.
- Requires a broad and in depth product knowledge/competency within own technical/subject area.
- Experienced and competent operator with a minimum of 1 year working within Typhoon Base Maintenance.
- IT Literate.
Desirable
- Ensure personal compliance with risk assessments, SHE policies and procedures.
- Experienced and competent in Maintenix system (IMS) and Eurofighter support system (ESS).
- Typhoon Mechanical Q Course.
- E&PW Awareness, ITAR Awareness, Fire Training, Human Factors.
