Role overview

The Troubleshooting Engineer provides advanced technical support for Building Management Systems, Energy Management Systems, and HVAC automation solutions across multiple customer sites.

The role focuses on complex fault diagnosis, system availability, customer escalations, root cause analysis, and timely resolution against service-level commitments.

BMS, EMS, and HVAC troubleshooting

  • Diagnose faults in BMS and EMS platforms and analyze alarms, trends, controller behavior, and field device performance.
  • Restore system functionality through corrective actions and provide technical expertise for critical and recurring issues.
  • Troubleshoot HVAC controls for chillers, AHUs, FCUs, VAVs, pumps, and ventilation systems.
  • Verify control logic, sequences of operation, system integration, and performance optimization opportunities.

Protocols and network diagnostics

  • Diagnose BACnet, Modbus, TCP/IP, and other building automation communication issues.
  • Validate controller communications and network architecture and support integration with third-party equipment and supervisory systems.
  • Troubleshoot routers, switches, gateways, remote access infrastructure, and connectivity issues with customer IT teams.

Root cause and customer support

  • Conduct root cause analysis for major incidents and recurring failures and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Manage critical customer escalations, prioritize requests by business impact, and monitor SLA performance.
  • Provide remote and onsite support across customer locations and assist service teams with complex technical issues.
  • Maintain documentation of findings and resolutions and communicate proactively with customers.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in electrical, electronics, instrumentation, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Four to nine years of relevant experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and customer-facing capabilities.
  • Willingness to travel for critical site support when required.

Preferred experience

  • Hands-on experience with Schneider Electric EcoStruxure Building Operation, Continuum, or a similar BMS platform is preferred.
  • Experience with mission-critical facilities such as data centers, commercial buildings, healthcare, industrial, or infrastructure projects is preferred.
  • Understanding of HVAC systems, building automation architecture, and energy management solutions is preferred.
