Design, simulate, sample, and maintain foundry tooling (patterns, core boxes, and fixtures/gages) to meet all customer requirements utilizing customer-supplied part geometry and specifications.
Knowledge of foundry processes, including green sand molding and a basic understanding of ductile iron metallurgy.
Advanced knowledge of GD&T
Understanding and basic use of CAD
Work with outside tooling vendors, including quoting, project management, and inspection of received tooling
Design and create drawings for CNC machine fixtures for various machining cells
Reading and understanding customer blueprints
Assist with CMM fixturing for inspection
Ability to generate CMM inspection programs (Calypso & PCDMIS)
Assist with the layout/measurement of tooling and parts using CMM and 3D scanner
Develop in-process gauging for production
Understand and conduct GR&R
Willing to work “hands-on” when needed to assist foundry sampling programs
Other duties as assigned by Management
Required Skills/Abilities
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
SolidWorks or similar CAD experience required
Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
Able to work flexible hours as needed
Ability to work in extreme heat
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field
Foundry Experience a Plus
