FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Good knowledge of relevant State and Federal laws and regulations governing public transportation systems.

Good knowledge of traffic laws, rules, and driving courtesy techniques.

Skill and demonstrated experience in the operation of vehicles in all weather conditions.

Skill in operating multi-passenger vehicles, hydraulic lift equipment, and mobility equipment for handicapped passengers.

Skill in operating radio communications systems.

Skill in being customer-focused, adept at problem solving and working collaboratively with others.

Skill in public and interpersonal relations and customer service.

Ability the read, write and perform basic mathematical skills and to follow written and oral instructions.

Ability to communicate complex information effectively with a wide variety of people, both orally and in writing, and deal with culturally diverse populations.

Ability to work with limited supervision, and plan, organize, and prioritize daily assignments and work activities.

Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with County staff and the general public, and deal with the public in a courteous and tactful manner.

Ability to effectively problem solve and handle difficult situations, and react calmly and quickly in emergency situations.

Ability to read and understand moderately complex written information.

Ability to organize and consolidate information, maintain records, prepare reports, and complete assignments accurately and timely.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS One (1) year of work experience in driving a passenger vehicle in the transport of clients.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Possession of a valid Class C Driver’s License issued by the State of North Carolina.

All offers of employment are conditional upon successful clearance of pre-employment drug testing, background check including Motor Vehicle Record Employment cannot commence until the employee has been cleared.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND POSSIBLE HAZARDS Must possess the visual acuity to drive a vehicle, perform extensive reading and operate a computer terminal. Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational support functions(with or without reasonable accommodation) of driving, standing, sitting, pushing, walking, bending, pulling, stooping, kneeling, lifting, crawling, climbing, carrying, keyboarding, grasping, reaching, talking, hearing, handling and repetitive motions of the hands, wrists and feet and considerable skill, adeptness and speed in the use of fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving close tolerances or limits of accuracy. Ability to perform medium work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force on a recurring basis to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions including extreme hot and cold temperatures, atmospheric conditions (wind, rain, ice/snow and humidity) for extended periods of time during the day or night.
