Position Overview
The position is Telecontrol / SCS Engineer for substation control systems.
The role supports telecontrol operations across primary and secondary substations in Qatar.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electronics or Telecommunications Engineering.
- More than 7 years of relevant experience in a similar industry.
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience, preferably in telecommunications.
System Operations and Maintenance
- Ensure daily operation, equipment maintenance, fault detection, and repair of telecontrol systems.
- Maintain more than 500 SCS/DCS systems in primary substations.
- Maintain more than 100 RTUs in secondary substations.
- Maintain WAMS, CMS, UPS, battery charger, and telemetry systems.
Projects and Technical Coordination
- Prepare annual budget requirements and spare-parts requirements for in-house projects.
- Coordinate project works, review designs and as-built drawings, and oversee commissioning.
- Prepare scopes of work, perform tender technical evaluations, and coordinate testing and commissioning.
- Assess quotations, verify delivered equipment specifications, and test newly ordered telecontrol equipment.
Safety and Inspections
- Attend standby calls from DCC, DGCC, and NCC control centers during and outside office hours.
- Evaluate safety precaution notifications before energization of substations or circuits.
- Attend KCT, TOC, and FAC inspections for commissioned systems and process defect-clearance documentation.
- Assess contractor SCADA/SCS engineers, review method statements, and issue letters of authorization.
Maintenance Planning and Records
- Prepare annual telecontrol maintenance plans and daily work instructions for senior technicians.
- Verify and follow up on fault reports in accordance with ISO requirements.
- Update the telecontrol database with work activity and equipment repair and maintenance records.
Work Location
- Work location is in person.
Compliance and Coordination
- Coordinate with system control and field engineers on testing and troubleshooting.
- Support resolution of telemetry issues with bulk consumers.
- Work with Quality Assurance and Continual Improvement on ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certification.
- Ensure telecommunications activities comply with Kahramaa health and safety regulations.
