UNICEF's North Pacific Field Office supports education programming across the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and Palau.

Assignment overview

The consultant will work within the Republic of the Marshall Islands Public School System to support the PSS–UNICEF partnership.

The assignment covers technical, logistical, coordination, monitoring, and reporting support for education and early childhood development programming.

The work supports implementation planning, stakeholder coordination, progress tracking, risk management, and alignment with government priorities.

Key responsibilities

  • Support PSS leadership and focal officers with implementation planning and follow-up on deliverables.
  • Coordinate with UNICEF, the Office of the Chief Secretary, government agencies, development partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Track progress, challenges, risks, results, and bottlenecks across agreed activities.
  • Identify practical solutions, build synergies, and facilitate stakeholder engagement.
  • Provide technical monitoring and reporting support to the UNICEF North Pacific Office and programme partners.

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in international development, education, social studies, economics, or a related field.
  • At least five years of progressively responsible experience in programme planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring, and/or management.
  • Experience supporting education, early childhood development, social sector, or related development programmes.
  • Experience working with government institutions, development partners, or multi-stakeholder coordination mechanisms.
  • Strong coordination, communication, facilitation, organizational, monitoring, and problem-solving skills.
  • Full working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, online meeting platforms, and standard digital reporting tools.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.

Desirable experience

  • Experience with UNICEF, the United Nations, international development organizations, Global Partnership for Education grants, donor-funded programmes, or education sector coordination is an asset.
  • Familiarity with the Republic of the Marshall Islands education system, government structures, or Pacific education context is an asset.
  • Experience preparing knowledge products, human-interest stories, communication materials, or lessons learned documentation is an asset.

  • The assignment supports education and ECD activities in the Republic of the Marshall Islands, with coordination through UNICEF's North Pacific Office.
